Head and Face: Front View
I've made up a manga character face. By following the tutorial, I hope in the end you can make a better character than mine (hohohoo..), because this tutorial is intended as a guide for you to develop your own drawing style. Okay, let's just begin the first lesson.
1. First thing first. Draw a circle. (I know it's not a perfect one, hehe - but that's okay.)
2. Find the center of the circle, then draw a vertical and horizontal line ( a plus sign "+"). Remember to draw the vertical line beginning at the top of the circle and ending below the circle by about half of the circle length (we're going to use it as the guide line for the character's chin). The horizontal line will be used as the guide line for the eyes.
3. Add features on the character's face. Starting from the chin, eyebrows, eyes, nose, mouth and ears. It depends on your own style, but I usually draw eyebrows under the horizontal line and nose a few inches below the circle. Not bad, eh?
4. We're almost done. Just add the hair and give the eyes more details. That's it. Easy, huh? I'm sure you can make better than me.
The last step of this drawing tutorial is to clean the lines, the circle, and to add more details on the character, such as the shadows. But don't worry. I will give 'em to you on the next tutorials.
